Iowa Core Vision Statement

Sully Christian Grade School works with the five area Christian Schools (Newton Christian, Oskaloosa Christian, Peoria Christian, Pella Christian, and Pella Christian High School) to implement the components of the Iowa Core curriculum. Below is a summary of our Iowa Core Vision.

The Christian Schools of South Central Iowa strive to provide rigorous academic programs rooted in God's infallible Word. As we prepare God's children for a life of service in His kingdom, we review various curricula to determine best components for the task. The Iowa Core has components that may assist us in accomplishing each school's mission. A leadership team has been established to review, recommend, and integrate components of the Iowa Core Curriculum that fit appropriately into our Biblical Framework, which upholds the Truth of God's Word.

Iowa Core Visual

Iowa Core Visual

The Iowa Core Logo pictured above is a visual interpretation of the area Christian schools Iowa Core Vision. Our vision for the Iowa Core begins with the centrality of God's Word. The Iowa Core has six pieces; the first two are support structures around the "hub" of God's Word. These support structures are "shared leadership" and "community". Notice that both of these support structures are rooted in the hub of the wheel. The spokes in the wheel represent the remaining four parts of the Iowa Core. These four parts are "Characteristics of Effective Instruction", "Ongoing Assessment", "Professional Development", and "Curriculum Alignment". The visual also expresses the desired outcome of implementing the Iowa Core, that being student success. We define student success by the accomplishment of each Christian schools respective mission. For Sully Christian this means that students will be challenged to develop their individual God given gifts for a life of service in God's kingdom.
